Ames scientists present latest research on polar volatiles to international community

Ames researchers Anthony Colaprete, Jennifer Heldmann, and Rick Elphic each delivered invited talks at the 57th Annual Brown-Vernadsky Microsymposium in Houston, TX, while Ted Roush and Elphic had poster presentations. This meeting was convened to explore our current knowledge of volatile materials on the Moon and Mercury and seek to identify the key questions, goals and objectives in order to underpin and motivate future exploration. The Microsymposium specifically reviewed current exploration plans, including the U.S. Resource Prospector, Russian Luna 25-27, and ESA BepiColombo missions. Participation in such key activities demonstrates Ames’ leadership role in understanding polar volatiles in the inner Solar System through both science and exploration.
