PhD Geology at the University at Buffalo
Dr. Shannon Kobs Nawotniak is a physical volcanologist with a focus on spatial patterns associated with eruption products. She uses field work, lab experiments, and computational modeling to link those spatial patterns to processes associated with eruptions, from lava flow behavior to atmospheric mixing in eruption columns. She completed her BS Geology at Michigan Technological University and her PhD Geology at the University at Buffalo. When not looking for excuses to blow things up, she is likely to be running with her dog.
