BASALT Research Objectives

My objectives within BASALT is to embed Canadian astronauts in field deployment activities. This serves two complementary purposes: BASALT researchers can benefit from the astronauts’ experience and expertise to streamline their processes and refine their metrics, and the astronauts use these training opportunities as realistic ground analogs for planetary exploration and gain experience in exploration field science.

Edward Tabarah occupies the position of Head, Canadian Astronaut Corps at the Canadian Space Agency. As such, he oversees all activities of Canadian astronauts including recruitment, training, public relations, outreach, and space missions.
